WHO WE ARE
Laboia is a visual studio crafting cinematic 3D animations and motion design for innovative companies, artists, and creators. Rooted in storytelling we translate complex ideas into atmospheric visuals — from product simulations to narrative experiments.
Founded by Anna Montanyà and Sebastian Schaal as a collaborative film studio with a documentary lens, laboia began with both short narrative films and documentaries, often exploring overlooked places, quiet rhythms, and lives at the margins. Their films were shown at international festivals and received awards for their unique perspective and poetic style.
Today, under the direction of Anna Montanyà, the studio focuses on digital content that highlights new technologies and creative visions with an artistic voice.
We work across disciplines and industries. Our projects range from visual concepts for startups to motion design for cultural creators — always with the ambition to make the invisible visible: ideas, processes, internal structures, and states of feeling.
Whether visualizing a tech concept, capturing the essence of a sculpture, or animating synthetic worlds.
Our background in documentary film still shapes how we see: with attention, curiosity, and care for the in-between. What has changed is the medium — and the scale of what we can build.
Past collaborators include ARTE, ZDF, SWR, the German Foreign Office, Nanusens, photographers, directors, and studios from across film, science, and culture.
